Israel: PA holding PA cop who murdered Israeli in protective custody

Israel: PA holding PA cop who murdered Israeli in protective custody

Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 3 December 2007

Israel Radio Territories Correspondent Guy Kotev reported in the second half
of the morning news magazine that:

"The Shabak (ISA) and IDF were not surprised that the three terrorists who
murdered Ido Zoldan were Palestinian Police who used in the attack weapons
that had been transferred to the Authority for keeping order.

Abdullah Baram and his brother Dafar, residents of the Palestinian village
of Kfar Kadum in the Nablus area were detained the night after the murder
near their village. They were caught by chance in a sweep by the IDF in the
area and in their Shabak interrogation they told how they planned the
attack, ambushed and shot at the car of Ido Zoldan near the village of
al-Pundak.

They identified their operator, who is also a Palestinian policeman, Fadi
Jama. The two told in the interrogation where they hid the weapons that
they had used in the attack. The IDF reached the rifles and confiscated
them.

The third member of the cell was detained by Palestinian Police last night.
It appears that Jama preferred to accompany his colleagues from the
Palestinian security forces of Nablus before the IDF or Shabak could get
their hands on him.

He is now with the Palestinian Police. It is not clear how long his
colleagues will keep him behind bars.

Israel sees the detention as protective detention - (AL: to prevent Israel
from reaching him) much more than as a good sign of the start of activity of
the Palestinian Police against terror.

. The Palestinian Police in Nablus are well equipped and the Shabak is
waiting for the day that their rifle barrels will be pointed against the
terror."
