TEHRAN (FNA)- An armed forces commander warned on Sunday that Iran will
target the interests of the enemies anywhere in the world in the case of the
"first adventure or attack on Iran".

The warnings by Jazayeri came as the Zionist regime and the US have
ratcheted up rhetoric about taking a possible military strike on Iran's
nuclear sites if Tehran refuses to give up its NPT right of uranium
enrichment.

Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri stressed that Iranian armed forces know
how to defend the country against any external threats, Tehran Times
reported.

"The army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) are ready, more
than ever, to face enemies and defend the nation," he insisted.

The commander also referred to the aborted Nojeh coup a year after the
Islamic Revolution, saying, "Discovering and foiling the United States'
largest coup against Iran on July 11, 1980, just some hours before its
launch, was a secret blessing from God."

Nojeh was the name of the base where the coup was planned to be launched.

The US and the UK were directly involved in the coup, and others such as
France, some conservative Arab countries, the Saddam Hussein regime, Israel,
and some others were also notified of the plot, he said.

"According to some documents, the coup was planned to be widely staged on
time in Tehran and other provincial capitals, cities and important places,"
he added.
