PA security official: No coordination with Israel on Qaeda arrests

Bethlehem - Ma'an - Ibrahim Ramadan, a Palestinian Authority Preventative
Security official, denied on Sunday that Israel and Palestinian security
forces coordinated the arrest of an Al-Qaeda cell in the West Bank.

His comments follow reports in Israeli media that both the PA and Israeli
security forces recently arrested members of radical Islamist groups with
links to Al-Qaida and global jihadists in various parts of the West Bank.

According to the Israeli daily Haaretz the largest arrests were made in the
town of Qabatiya near Jenin, where six people were detained.

"Those detained were unarmed and were arrested before they could carry out
any attacks," the daily reported, having quoted a PA security source.

Ramadan said that a Preventative Security spokesman would imminently comment
on the media reports
