Cabinet Approves Accelerated Planning for Natural Gas Terminals
(Communicated by the Prime Minister's Media Adviser)
The Cabinet today (Sunday, 10 June 2012), unanimously approved accelerated
planning for natural gas terminals.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the bureaucratic delays in
building the natural gas terminals said the Government must accelerate the
planning and construction processes for these terminals in order to ensure
the supply of natural gas for the benefit of Israeli citizens. "The current
discoveries of natural gas reserves at sea belong to the Israeli people and
it is very important that they benefit from them. The Israeli economy will
become stronger as a result of these discoveries. The economic growth will
stem from the use of these discoveries and they must not be delayed. There
is no greater right than the right of Israelis to save NIS 12 billion," the
Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed Prime Minister's Office Director-General
Harel Locker to implement the recommendations immediately and to begin the
legislative process if there are delays.
