Egypt envoy: No date set for reconciliation talks

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Egyptian envoy to the Palestinian Authority Yasser
Othman said Sunday that there was no meeting date scheduled for talks
between Hamas and Fatah.

Leaders of the parties were expected to meet 11 days ago to select cabinet
ministers for a joint government to end the divided administrations run by
the rival parties in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The latest chapter in the Egypt-brokered reconciliation deal of May 2011 was
postponed amid Egypt's presidential election, and a Fatah official said last
week the leaders were set to get together soon.

But Othman told Ma'an the date had still yet to be determined, and would
depend on the schedule of the factions and Egypt.

He stressed newly-elected Egyptian President Muhammad Mursi's commitment to
the reconciliation process.

"Mursi’s (inaugural) speech was clear and confirmed on the Egyptian support
to the reconciliation," Othman said.
