Netanyahu administration subject to lawfare to bar Jews from Hebron
building

With the news cycle possibly winding down regarding the two murders of IDF
soldiers, Israel Radio correspondent Amotz Shapiro reported this afternoon
that the Netanyahu Government advised the Supreme Court today that it did
not intend to interfere with lawfare activity that may prevent Jews from
moving into a Jewish owned building in Hebron for a considerable period of
time.

At the peak of the news cycle, the Prime Minister's Office issued the
following announcement:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ordered immediate action to move into
Machpelah House in Hebron. "Those who try to uproot us from the City of the
Patriarchs will achieve the opposite. We will continue to fight terrorism
and strike at terrorists on the one hand and strengthen settlement with the
other."

Today the Netanyahu Administration responded to a petition filed with the
High Court for an interim injunction to prevent entry into the Jewish owned
building by advising the Court that "no decision has been made to give
possession of the building anyone" and that the State has no intention to
approve occupation of the building until all processes related to the
building are completed.

While the paperwork establishing Jewish ownership of the building has
already been reviewed and confirmed in court, it appears that the legal
department of the Civil Administration intends to carry out their own review
of the paperwork.

It is apparently not possible to impose any timetable or deadline on the
review.

Should the conclusions of the review contradict those of the court system,
there is no telling how long it would take the court system to reconfirm its
original conclusion.

To put it delicately - over the course of the previous and current Netanyahu
Administrations, the appointments made of key legal authorities on both the
military and civilian side have been people who have tended to facilitate
lawfare against activities associated with increasing the Jewish presence
beyond the Green Line.
