Observation: Does it matter If downed Malaysian jet dominates the news

Observation: Does it matter If downed Malaysian jet dominates the news
cycle?
Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 17 July 2014

Hamas failed again this morning to carry out a high profile terror attack.

UNRWA publicly condemned the Palestinians for hiding rockets in one of their
schools in Gaza.

And then . . .

Our story is off the world news media screens as the world focuses on the
drama of the Malaysian jet.

We are, at most, mentioned on the news ticker on the bottom of the screen.

So now what?

One thing is certain: If the choice is between doing "X" in the next 5
hours where "X" carries with it risks to IDF forces out of PR concerns and
"X" only achieves 1% of what has to be done in the Gaza Strip and doing
"1,000 X" - where "1,000 X" shifts the operational risks from the IDF
forces to the human shields and has a major impact on conditions on the
ground, then the downed Malaysian jet has opened a window for carrying out
"1,000 X" while the world focuses on the other story.
