2,500 Gaza pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia via Rafah crossing

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Over 2,500 Hajj pilgrims from Gaza will enter Egypt on
Thursday via the Rafah crossing, a Palestinian official said.

Director of Gaza's crossings authority, Maher Abu Sabha, told Ma'an that the
pilgrims will transit through Egypt en route to Saudi Arabia.

The Rafah crossing is the principal connection between Gaza's 1.7 million
people and the outside world, but Egypt maintains it tightly shut as part of
the jointly-enforced Israeli blockade.
