Weekly Commentary: Two basic things many analysts forget

The following are probably the top two things analysts most frequently
forget:

#1. Iranian Twelver messianism: “In this context, mutual assured
destruction, the deterrent that worked so well during the Cold War, would
have no meaning. At the end of time, there will be general destruction
anyway. What will matter will be the final destination of the dead -- hell
for the infidels, and heaven for the believers. For people with this
mindset, MAD is not a constraint; it is an inducement.”

#2. “Democratic state for all of its citizens”: This means only one thing:
revoking the Law of Return which allows all Jews to immigrate to Israel and
become citizens. Here’s how this is spelled out in "The Democratic
Constitution" proposed by Adalah - The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights
in Israel:

Citizenship
15. The laws of citizenship and immigration will be established on the basis
of the principle of anti-discrimination and will define the arrangements by
which the State of Israel will grant citizenship to:
A. Anyone who was born within the territory of the State of Israel and whose
parent was also born within the territory of the State of Israel;
B. Anyone who was born to a parent who is a citizen of the state;
C. The spouse of a citizen of the state;
D. Those who arrive or remain in the state due to humanitarian reasons,
including those who are persecuted on the basis of political background.
