Pakistani Urdu Daily: 'Iran Will Use The Money [From U.S.-Iran Nuclear Deal]
To Buy Weapons, Support Shia [Militia] Groups In Region' – For Example In
Iraq, Syria And Yemen

The following report is a complimentary offering from MEMRI's Jihad and
Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM).

In a recent editorial, the Karachi-based Urdu daily Roznama Ummat called
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz's decision not to participate in U.S.
President Barack Obama's May 14, 2015 Camp David summit of Gulf heads of
state as a significant step. It accused the U.S. president of convening the
summit in order to elicit the backing of the Gulf countries for the U.S.'s
nuclear pact with Iran.

The widely circulated Roznama Ummat is a staunch supporter of Islamist
political parties such as the Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.

In its editorial, under the idiomatic headline "Amriki Ki Totachashmi"
("American Betrayal") the paper notes that the U.S. is now becoming
disappointed with the Arab countries, and that it is moving away from them
and backing Iran which openly supports the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The following are excerpts from the editorial, which was written prior to
the summit:

"Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz's Refusal To Take Part In Summit Of The
[Gulf] Heads Of The State Is A Welcome Step And A Clear Indication Of Not
Accepting American Supremacy In The Future"

"Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz has excused himself from participating in
the Gulf countries' heads of state summit convened by the American president
Barack Obama. The U.S. State Department had said in a statement that the
heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries – Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman – will be welcomed in the White House
on May 13 and at Camp David on May 14. U.S. At the May 14 meeting, President
Barack Obama will talk about the situations in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen
with the members of Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

"Analysts say that the countries about which Barack Obama wants to talk with
the members of Gulf Cooperation Council have no direction relation with
America; their affairs too are not connected to America. This [developments
in the Gulf] are Arabs' internal affair on which America's unnecessary
interference should not be allowed. Wherever America has entangled its leg,
the situation has worsened instead of getting better and as a result
concerned countries have faced more tension and terrorism. Saudi King Salman
bin Abdulaziz's refusal to take part in the heads of the state meeting is a
welcome step and is a clear indication of not accepting American supremacy
in the future.

"After King Salman refused, Bahrain, Oman and United Arab Emirates' heads of
state also excused themselves from the meeting and announced that they would
send their representatives instead. According to media reports so far, only
Kuwait's and Qatar's heads will meet with President Barack Obama. Due to
King Salman's absence [from the summit] his scheduled meeting with President
Barack Obama in the White House has been cancelled.

"Saudi Arabia has clarified that a ceasefire is possible in Yemen on
humanitarian grounds and that King Salman's presence in the country is
necessary [at this time]. Also, the King Salman Centre for Humanitarian Aid
has to be inaugurated. Because of these prescheduled programs, the Saudi
king will be sending Crown Prince Muhammad bin Naif in his stead to
participate in the summit of American President Barack Obama...

"There have been times that a Muslim country could not dare to refuse the
American president's invitation to participate [in a meeting]. Cancelling
all their engagements, they would dash madly [to a meeting called by the
U.S. president]. After King Salman's refusal, three more heads of state
refused to participate in the summit – in a big jolt for America."

"To Continue Its Games In The Gulf… [The U.S.] Has Decided To Bless Iran,
Which Used To Call It 'Shaitan-e-Buzurg' ['The Great Satan'] And Which For
Years Chanted 'Marq bar Amrika' ['Death To America']"

"The American president had in fact summoned members of the Gulf Cooperation
Council to take them into confidence on the U.S.'s nuclear pact and its
backing of Iran. It may be remembered that Iran openly supported the Houthi
rebels in the recent Yemen rebellion. If Iran's nuclear pact with six big
countries including America is agreed, international sanctions on it [Iran]
will end, and Iran will get many trillions of dollars.

"Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries think that Iran will use this money to
buy weapons and support Shia [militia] groups in the region. Iraq, Syria and
Yemen are clear examples [of where Iran is supporting Shi'a groups]. Against
this backdrop, the Saudi king's decision not to attend President Barack
Obama's summit is very significant.

"American betrayal is no secret from anyone. Her interests and friends keep
changing over time. After its long-term supremacy over the Arab countries,
it is now becoming disappointed and is moving away from them. However,
continuing its games in the Gulf, it has decided to bless Iran, which used
to call it Shaitan-e-Buzurg ['The Great Satan'] and which for years chanted
'Marq bar Amrika' ['Death to America']. [However] Iran never hesitated to
purchase weapons from America's client state Israel during its war against
Iraq."

"If, By Uniting Arab And Muslim Countries, The New Saudi King Continues To
Follow The Policy Of Liberating [His Country] From America… Then With The
Help Of Pakistan's Nuclear Capabilities… The Economic Situation Of Muslim
Countries Can Improve"

"If, by uniting Arab and Muslim countries, the new Saudi King Salman
continues to follow the policy of liberating [his country] from America,
Russia or other international powers, then with the help of Pakistan's
nuclear capabilities and other countries' abundant resources, the economic
situation of Muslim countries can improve. If the money of the Arab rulers
and princes deposited in Western banks is withdrawn and used for the welfare
of the Islamic world, not only will the so-called developed countries be
forced to realize their situation, but the Muslim countries will quickly
achieve development and prosperity."
