Committee Holds Sessions on JCPOA Implementation: Iran’s Shamkhani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali
Shamkhani said a committee previously formed to monitor the implementation
of a recent nuclear accord between Iran and world powers has held three
sessions so far to discuss various topics.

Since the committee’s members were selected, it has held three sessions
within the framework set by the Supreme Leader, Shamkhani told reporters in
southern Iranian city of Kerman on Wednesday.

Among the issues discussed in these sessions were the sanctions and the
document on modernization of the Arak heavy water reactor, he added.

The official also noted that the other side of the agreement should fulfill
its obligations and duties, adding that great care will be taken in this
regard with utmost vigilance.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had
ordered the formation of the committee in October.

The existence of complexities and ambiguities in the JCPOA and the
possibility of breach of commitments and deception on the part of the other
side, especially the US, necessitate that a strong, observant and smart
committee be formed to monitor the progress of works, fulfilment of the
other side’s commitments and realization of the observations mentioned,
Ayatollah Khamenei stated in a letter to President Hassan Rouhani on October
21.

The committee’s arrangement and responsibilities should be formulated and
approved by the SNSC, Imam Khamenei said in the letter.
