Hezbollah Opponent Inaugurates Center for "Arab Shi'ites"

Beirut – Sayyed Mohammad Ali Husseini, secretary general of Lebanon’s Shi’ite
group Arabic Islamic Council, announced that the council has been
transformed into an expanded Arab Shi’ite council that embraces all efforts
and interacts with Arab Shi’ite figures and authorities for the unity of
Arabs.

Husseini, known for his opposition to “Hezbollah”, said during the
inauguration of the new general secretariat headquarters in Beirut’s
southern suburbs that this council “will be the official representative of
Arab Shi’ites for the sake of communicating and coordinating with all Arab
countries.”

In his speech, Husseini stressed the strategic goal of the council in
“returning the deceived Shi’ites to the Arab fold, away from Wilayat
al-Faqih and its plots to fragment the Arab region.” He affirmed that Shi’ites
“are loyal to their nations, not to Wilayat al-Faqih – they do not have any
agenda to establish entities of their own since they are an integral part of
the Arab world along with Sunnis.”

He highlighted that the duty of Shi’ites is to be “a factor of stability and
safety in their nations and to cooperate with their brothers in Arabism in
rejecting suspicious calls made by the regime of Wilayat al-Faqih under the
pretext of supporting Shi’ite minorities.”

He then warned: “Arab national security is in danger and our duty as Arab
Shi’ites is to maintain and protect it. Any harm to any country is a threat
to the whole Arab world.”

He concluded: “We are working on transforming the council into an Arab Shi’ite
council that includes all efforts and interacts with Arab Shi’ite figures
and authorities that share common goals with us.”
