Weekly Commentary: Viable Annexation Requires Full Rights For Residents =
Of Annexed Areas

When MK Rafi Peretz was recently asked about voting rights for =
Palestinians in areas he wants to annex, Rabbi Peretz indicated he =
sought an arrangement that did not provide for voting rights.

From a practical standpoint, the size of the current Arab presence in =
Area C and other prime areas for annexation that does not include major =
cities is small enough that there is no real problem giving them the =
option to become Israeli citizens with full rights =E2=80=93 including =
voting.

And that=E2=80=99s after we faced criticism and condemnation during the =
entire legislative process for such an annexation (annexation via =
cabinet vote does not provide for adding conditions to annexation).

And with our window of opportunity possibly coming to a close it would =
be appropriate for this to be the first act of the next government that =
forms.=20

The Trump team will need to accept the explanation that annexation =
doesn=E2=80=99t close the door on the Trump deal,

After all, annexation of Jerusalem decades ago hasn=E2=80=99t taken it =
off the table as far as the world is concerned.
