Weekly Commentary: Israel Needs B-21 Bomber To Meet Challenges Nukes Can't
Dr. Aaron Lerner 28 October 2020
We don't have a platform which can deliver the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance
Penetrator precision-guided conventional bomb, the largest in the U.S. Air
Force inventory.
And in the absence of such a platform there are numerous scenarios in which
the only option left on the table is a nuclear one.
The consequences of exercising a nuclear option are so grave that we could
find our leaders either postponing the move until we suffered catastrophic
losses or not acting at all.
The B-21 stealth bomber, slated to enter service in the US Air Force in
2025, can carry one GBU-57.
Israel needs B-21s.
The proposed sales of F-35s to others in the region provides us with a
unique opportunity to put the supply of B-21s to Israel on the agenda.
Let's not waste this opportunity.
