Computers used to smuggle explosives

An armored reserve battalion stopped on Saturday (16/11) at the Tapuach
junction two suicide bombers on their way to a suicide bombing in Jerusalem.
The two Hamas operatives were arrested in a cab concealing two computers
containing a large quantity of explosives. This same reserve battalion
prevented in the last two weeks two separate terrorist attacks.
In an interview to the "voice of Israel" radio this morning (25/11) the
commander of the reserve armored battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Shlomo
described the event: "The force at the roadblock stopped a suspicious
looking taxi, and asked the passengers to get out of the vehicle. The force
discovered two computers as well as two guns in the back at the taxi. While
their identities were being checked, they found that one of them was a
wanted suspect, who came from Nablus.

After the computers were taken out of the cab it appeared that they were
heavy' and IDF sappers who came to the scene identified that they contained
explosives."

The IDF arrests the man who dispatched the two terrorists

Piras Fidi, a senior Hamas operative, was arrested this morning (25/11) by
an IDF force. Fidi was responsible for sending the two terrorists who were
caught in a cab that contained two computers with explosives to a suicide
bombing on the 16/11 in Jerusalem.

Fidi a resident of Nablus was born in 76' and has been active for a long
time in the Hamas terrorist network located in Nablus. He has been linked to
the execution of many suicide bombings, and is known to recruit potential
terrorists and abettors for terror attacks .

He guided the attack on a Golani base during May 2002 when a terrorist threw
a grenade and fired at the guard post. He was also involved in recruiting
the terrorist who committed the suicide bombing in the Pat junction at
Jerusalem in June 2002 in which 19 people were killed and another 50 were
injured. In addition Fidi is directly responsible for the attack on the gas
station at Ariel on October 2002 in which 3 were killed and 17 were injured.
