Maariv: Police informant behind inciting sticker

Maariv correspondent Kalman Lipskind reports today that:

"A police intelligence source operating among circles in the radical Israeli
right who also provides information to the Central Unit of the police in the
Judea and Samaria region is himself responsible for the distribution of
stickers against the prime minister as well as against Arabs.

"The person, who provides the information without pay, was also involved in
the recruitment of activists for protests that took place last week, during
the course of which extreme right wing activists blocked road junctions. In
recent weeks the man told his friends that he intends to launch additional
acts of civil disobedience, that would be considerably more violent, during
the course of the implementation of the disengagement plan that begins in
another five months.

According to the plan, this would be attacks against government institutions
and courts where the security is loose, as well as fires in various places
in an attempt to keep the police busy and prevent them from properly
implementing the operations evacuating the communities in the Gaza Strip and
northern Samaria. The activist, who lives beyond the Green Line, does not
operate under the instruction of the intelligence agent who is responsible
for ties with him, but instead only provides information, that at times is
only partial, about his activities, to his operator.

The fear that his declarations and threats will be acted on is very great in
light of his previous activity, when he participated in one of the extreme
right wing organizations. Among other things, he purchased several hundred
pocket knives along with a number of people from the organization, with the
intention of distributing them to settlers at the time of the evacuation.
Elements in the organization then said that the purpose was to enable the
settlers detained by the police to easily cut their plastic handcuffs.

An additional activity that he played a central role in was the distribution
of the sticker "Sharon - Lily is waiting for you" and also directed one of
the initiators of the distribution of the monopoly game that has on the game
board slogans calling for the expulsion of Arabs and the carrying out of
mass civil disturbances.

After the game and sticker came out the Attorney General ordered the police
to open an investigation of suspicions of incitement, which is still being
carried out.

The Judea and Samaria police did not comment [on this Maariv report]."
