Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA: Israel Radio reports that Mr. Zamir refuses to
provide any information that would enable the IDF to actually identify the
incident so it remains uinclear what and how the IDF will investigate. It is
unfortunate that Mr. Zamir did not take the initative and convince the
soldiers to do their civic duty and come forward and file complaints.

The IDF Chief Advocate General Orders Investigation of Claims Made at the
Rabin Preparation Center
The IDF Military Advocate General, Brig. Gen. Avichai Mendelblit, instructed
the Criminal Investigation Division of the IDF Military Police to
investigate the claims made regarding alleged actions of soldiers during
Operation Cast Lead.
Several weeks ago, Mr. Danny Zamir, the head of the "Rabin" Preparation
Program, sent a letter to the IDF Chief of the General Staff's office
describing claims made by soldiers at a gathering held at the Preparation
Center. Brig. Gen. Eli Shirmeister, the IDF Chief Education Officer, was
made responsible to address the matter. Brig. Gen Shirmeister met with Mr.
Zamir and described the process of investigating operational and moral
issues within the IDF. Additionally, the Chief Education Officer continued
addressing the issue along with the relevant IDF commanders.
The content of the meeting held at the Preparation Center was presented to
the Military Advocate General, Brig. Gen. Avichai Mendelblit this morning.
After a thorough examination of the text, the Advocate General directed the
opening of an immediate investigation that will examine events described
during the meeting.
