Tehran, Nov 30, IRNA – Iran's representative in the Asian Parliamentary
Assembly (APA) Ali Kazemi said that Tehran is ready for talks to remove
misunderstandings but its sovereignty over the Persian Gulf Islands of Abu
Mussa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs is non-negotiable.

Majlis delegation participating in the Ninth Meeting of General Assembly of
Asian Parliaments dismissed empty claims of UAE lawmaker.

Kazemi who is taking part in the Ninth Meeting of Asian Parliaments General
Assembly in Cambodia rejected UAE representative's claims over Iranian
Persian Gulf islands as empty, saying that such claims are unjustifiable and
baseless.

Such claims are against international regulations and UN Charter as well as
principles of good neighborliness, he said, reaffirming Iran's sovereignty
over the Islands of Abu Musa and Lesser and Greater Tunbs.

Based on its principled policies aimed at ensuring security and stability in
the Persian Gulf, Iran has undertaken extensive measures to promote
confidence-building in the region, he said.

'We have voiced our readiness for bilateral talks with the UAE to remove
misunderstandings, but it is clear that territorial integrity and
sovereignty over the islands are non-negotiable,' he said.
