Weekly Commentary: Completion of Electric Laser Justifies Postponing
Gaza/Lebanon Campaign
Dr. Aaron Lerner 9 January, 2020
The Israeli electric laser system announced yesterday is a game changer.
Thanks to its relatively low energy consumption, the laser can essentially
zap targets nonstop at a cost per zap considerably less that the cost of the
cheapest ordnance Hamas or Hezbollah could send our way.
The mobile version can protect ground forces on the move and its expected
that an airborne version will be developed making it possible to essentially
strip the enemy of the ability to launch anything from within the coverage
area.
Given the relatively short period that its expected to take to rush from the
demonstration stage to serial production at projected unit costs which makes
large scale deployment possible there is a logic to a temporary "quiet for
quiet" policy.
Time could indeed be on our side.
But that doesn't mean we should be complacent.
Our "window of exposure" before the electric laser system is deployed is the
"window of opportunity" of our enemies and they can be expected to do
everything in their power to exploit quiet for quiet to gear up for a
massive assault against the Jewish State before our gizmos may render their
efforts useless.
