Weekly Commentary: A Word to American Voters Getting Messages From
Oslo-Hugging Israelis

Supporters of Democratic Party presidential candidate Biden are circulating
calls attacking Israel penned by Shlomo Cohen, the past president of the
Israeli Bar Association.

Cohen asserts that the only thing President Trump's policies have done is
prevent progress towards peace by strengthening "the extreme right wing,
ultra-religious, nationalistic, messianic groups who wish to eliminate the
two-states solution."

Notice that the video of a singer in Dubai and a singer in Tel Aviv
welcoming the peace is being distributed by the SAUDI Arab News service!!!!

This is what's happening

And there is a lot more than this going on with a lot of Arab and Moslem
countries at a breakneck speed.

We Israelis are now part of a coalition whose interests go well beyond the
common interest to deter Iran.

Shlomo Cohen's ideological blinders apparently compel him to ignore this
much as ideological blinders caused him and the minority of Israelis who
share his views to remain religiously devoted to the fantasy of the
viability of a "land for peace" deal in which a sovereign Palestinian state
with its capital in Jerusalem and reaching to within mortar range of my home
in Raanana would magically end its pursuit of the destruction of Israel in
stages.

I harbor no illusions that American Jews are going to let the interests and
needs of Israel take precedence over other considerations when they vote.

But at this moment, when I see articles like those of Cohen's being
circulated in America as a fig leaf for a choice already made, I feel
compelled to say to those circulating these messages:

Don't harbor any illusion that you are acting for Israel's benefit.
