Weekly Commentary: Is President Biden Pushing Israelis To Vote Likud?

It was thought that frustration over the ongoing management of the COVID-19
crisis might cause either an upset in the coming elections or at least
another tie with no one able to form a ruling coalition and a rush to yet
another round of elections.
But President Biden may be changing all that.
If in the coming days it becomes clear that the application of selective
morality causes Mr. Biden to effectively abandon the Saudis, the chaos and
uncertainty which may follow could easily drive many Israeli voters to turn
to support the only Israeli leader with the proven skill set to jump into
the fray. Binyamin Netanyahu.
This is the man who, against all odds, convinced President Putin to allow
Israel to bomb Russia's allies in Syria despite the deployment of Russian
forces in the region. Bombing operations which continued even after the
Russian military was furious over a Syrian friendly fire incident which was
attributed to confusion caused by Israeli jets in the area.

And while the Dems resent Netanyahu, there is no other Israeli leader today
who is equipped to lead the kind of lobbying blitz which may be required in
the coming chaotic months.
What an irony. President Biden could easily end up causing more Israelis
to vote for Mr. Netanyahu's Likud than President Trump ever did.
