Weekly Commentary: Electric Laser Revolution Must Impact Decision

Weekly Commentary: Electric Laser Revolution Must Impact Decision Making
Dr. Aaron Lerner 17 January, 2020

There's so much going on here that the news cycle for the electric laser
ended basically after the item was broadcast on the evening news.

No talking heads. No second and third round about the significance and
ramifications of Israel being literally the only one in the world to have
achieved a technological breakthrough which apparently relies on a leap in
the understanding of light by Israeli scientists.

And there is so much to talk about.

A few examples:

#1. Why order more stealth F-35's when an airborne electric laser can make
it impossible to stop stealth-less jets which can deliver considerably more
bombs at a fraction of the cost ? That electric laser will be able to not
only intercept everything targeting our jets but also surgically destroy
critical elements of any anti-aircraft system it encounters in the area.

#2. Should this technology be shared with anyone else in the world or should
we spend whatever it takes to cover large scale serial production of the
systems inside Israel?

#3. Why make any concessions of a permanent nature (e.g. relating to land)
in the interim?

#4. What do we have to do to address the huge security challenge we may
face when our enemies realize that the "window of opportunity" to destroy
the Jewish State may be closing in a relatively short period of time?
