You really welcome another 50K mostly-enemies of the Jewish state to become
Israeli citizens? That strengthens what I call Israel's ultimate enemy. You
can't defeat your own citizens.

Daniel -
This is all a question of marginal cost vs marginal benefit.
Having Jericho part of Israel gives us permanent control of a nice broad
North South band of land which profoundly landlocks any Palestinian entity
while protecting our border. No one can predict with certainty what's gong
to be on the other side of that border next month, let alone next decade or
beyond.
NOT having Jericho makes access to the Dead Sea from Jerusalem pass through
a choke point with – according to what’s claimed to be the most recent
version of the Trump Map – with Jericho bulging out to within 2 kilometers
of the border with Jordan.
So even setting aside for the moment that these people from a tourist town
will be in 7th heaven being part of Israel the answer is a definite YES.
Best regards,
Aaron

Aaron:
I agree that Israel needs to control the border with Jordan.
But that does not imply annexation and the necessary offer of citizenship to
the residents of those lands, residents who are overwhelmingly enemies of
the Jewish state. And should Israel not offer citizenship, as Netanyahu
indicated it would not in late May, then charges of apartheid will gain
credence.
What's wrong with the way things are now? Why hijack attention from the
region's many other problems? Why make more enemies? Why create an even more
polarized Israeli population? And all this for pure symbolism.
Daniel
