For the record: Mitzpeh Kramim was within Jordan Valley area PM Netanyahu
Declined To Apply Israeli Law To
Dr. Aaron Lerner 28 August, 2020
Yesterday the High Court of Justice decided that it did not matter that the
Israelis who built their homes in Mitzpeh Kramim did so with all required
paperwork from the Israeli authorities since the the court believed that
these Israeli authorities erred in authorizing the construction.
Mitzpeh Kramim is located adjacent to Kochav Hashachar which is within the
territory of the Jordan Valley area Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu
intended to apply Israeli law to in 2019.
Netanyahu dropped the idea literally moments before a special meeting of the
ministers to vote to apply Israeli law.
If Israeli law applied to Mitzpeh Kramim the matter under consideration by
the court would be resolved as such errors by authorities are handled inside
Israel, namely that the authorizations remain in place and compensation to
injured parties, inasmuch as they can be identified, is provided by the
authorities.
Ironically, some familiar with Israel - UAE relations maintain that if PM
Netanyahu had applied Israeli law to the Jordan Valley in 2019 that this
could have served to ACCELERATE an Israel - UAE deal as the "cover story"
that the UAE acted to "stop the annexation" would have been even stronger
since the "annexation threat" would have been that much more tangible.
