At this stage of the political process, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu
and Defense Minister Benny Gantz openly despise each other.
It seems that they won't even look at each other in the eye when appearing
at public forums. And yet, day after day, behind closed doors, they work
together on the design and implementation of a program of military
operations of an unprecedented level of intensity.
Next week, on Israel Independence Day, we will have the privilege to mark
living in the longest period of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel
since Joshua crossed the Jordan.
We have managed to get this far because at critical moments national
interests trumped politics.
However the clandestine battle taking place between Israel and Iran plays
out, it is comforting to know that Israel's moves are in no way driven by a
