Weekly Commentary: A Suggested Caveat For Post Election Commentators
Discussing Ben-Gvir
Dr. Aaron Lerner 29 October 2022
From the moment our television screens light up this Tuesday night with the
exit poll results there is a reasonable chance that we will find the talking
heads devoting a significant part of their discussion of the Knesset
elections on Itamar Ben-Gvir and the ramifications of his serving as a
minister in the next ruling coalition.
Now I can appreciate that many of these talking heads are convinced that
politician Ben-Gvir is a wolf in sheep's clothing and that anything Ben-Gvir
has said or done as a mature adult is no more than a deviously calculated
deception.
So here is my suggestion of an alternative to flooding the media with
ammunition that will, with 100% certainty, be used by our enemies against
the Jewish State.
Say the following:
###
"I most certainly do not share the positions which Itamar Ben-Gvir promoted
in his campaign. But these positions were certainly not beyond the pale.
Ben-Gvir's post-election remarks and actions should be carefully monitored.
I sincerely hope that we find that Ben-Gvir's campaign was not a deceitful
facade."
