Weekly Commentary: Israel Must Maximize Independent Strength, Including Weapons and Ammunition

Weekly Commentary: Israel Must Maximize Independent Strength, Including
Weapons and Ammunition
Dr. Aaron Lerner 10 March 2023

In 1973, Operation Nickel Grass, a strategic airlift operation conducted by
the United States, delivered critical weapons and supplies to the Jewish
State during the Yom Kippur War.

Israel cannot afford to rely on a repeat of Operation Nickel Grass in the
face of chaotic times.

It is not just the strain on supplies caused by the war in Ukraine that is a
concern, but also the breakneck pace of developments in the Far East, which
are moving towards a series of massive conflicts.

Other American allies will also desperately need arms, and America itself
will find itself running out of weapons and supplies.

President Herzog's initiative can allow us to turn away from the distraction
of judicial reform and focus on preparing the Jewish State for this critical
challenge.

To achieve this, we need to embark on a massive build-up of Made in Israel
weapons and ammunition.

This will involve not only exploiting our current production capacity but
also expanding it as quickly as possible.

We must also identify any gaps in our capabilities and find ways to
substitute them with other Made in Israel platforms.

These efforts will require significant investments from our own pockets, but
choosing life means we must pay the price.
