Devastating Makor Rishon Editorial Cartoon Against Haredis For Not Serving In IDF

The 14 June 2024 editorial cartoon in Makor Rishon, a newspaper whose readership is mostly from the national religious sector of Israel, depicts four combat soldiers bearing a wounded soldier on a stretcher.

Sitting on the stretcher next to the wounded soldier is a haredi with an open book.

The haredi says “Don’t worry guys, the studying is dedicated to his recuperation and to your success.”

It can be clearly seen in the cartoon that one of the soldiers bearing the stretcher has tzitzit hanging out of his uniform, indicating that the soldier is religious.
