Remove The Illegal Missiles From Beirut
Dr. Aaron Lerner 28 July 2024
The discussion today should not be limited to some temporary withdrawal of
Hezbollah north of the Litani.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006)
Adopted by the Security Council at its 5511th meeting, on 11 August 2006
"The Security Council,
... 8. Calls for Israel and Lebanon to support ...full implementation of the
relevant provisions of the Taif Accords, and of resolutions 1559 (2004) and
1680 (2006), that require the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon, so
that, pursuant to the Lebanese cabinet decision of 27 July 2006, there will
be no weapons or authority in Lebanon other than that of the Lebanese
State;"
Hezbollah has illegally deployed long and mid-range rockets and guided
missiles behind civilian cover in Beirut and elsewhere.
And if the world doesn't care about this gross violation of UNSCR 1701 then
I daresay that we would enjoy an element of surprise if we used Hezbollah's
savage attack yesterday as a basis for finally executing the playbook the
IAF has practiced so many times and take out these long and mid-range
rockets and guided missiles which threaten to cause tremendous damage to our
strategic infrastructure etc.
A surprise because I don't know anyone in Israeli or elsewhere who thinks
that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has the intestinal fortitude to put
an end to this threat which has served to deter us for so many years.
if we take out the long and mid-range rockets and guided missiles tonight it
will be recorded in our history as a master stroke of deception no less than
The Battle of Ai (Joshua 8:3-29).
