Weekly Commentary: Don't Postpone Iran For Trump

Israel has more than one plan for removing the Iranian nuclear threat.

There's a plan which doesn't rely on the active participation of third
parties, including the United States.

There are other plans based the participation of other countries in the
campaign.

Suffice it to say that there are various advantages to operations involving
a large coalition.

But as my late father, Dr. Joseph Lerner, often warned, sometimes the best
alternative is the one you can implement instead of discuss.

President-elect Trump will have a lot on his plate on January 20th.

And while we will have many friends in his administration, we also have
terrible enemies whispering in his ear.

To further complicate matters, that "plate" includes other international
challenges, such as Russia-Ukraine, which Mr. Trump may very well be able to
resolve in quick deals.

That's what Iran is looking for.

A quick deal which may look good in a one paragraph executive summary but is
a disaster when you wade through the fine print.

Please don't get me wrong.

We said a collective Birkat Hagomel when Mr. Trump defeated Ms. Harris.

But that doesn't mean we should stake our collective futures on things
working out after January 20th.

So I join many others in fervently hoping that by the time Mr. Trump is
sworn in that the Iranian nuclear threat is relegated to the history books.
